Our Work with AMP PDX

At Wicker Wood Works, we believe craftsmanship and community go hand in hand. That’s why we are deeply committed to supporting the Artist Mentorship Program (AMP PDX), Portland’s longest-running drop-in center dedicated to homeless and at-risk youth. AMP has been serving the Old Town neighborhood for nearly 30 years, offering a safe, creative space where young people between the ages of 15 and 25 can explore art, music, and community.

Our founder, Matt Wicker, is honored to serve as Board Chair of AMP. In this role, he helps guide the organization’s mission of healing through creativity, ensuring youth in Portland have access to programs that build confidence, skills, and a sense of belonging. Beyond governance, Matt and the Wicker Wood Works team actively support AMP’s annual events—most notably the 30th Anniversary Fundraiser at the Mission Theater—connecting local businesses, musicians, and community partners to sustain this important work.

This partnership reflects our belief that design, music, and community are all part of the same story. Just as we craft furniture that brings people together around music, AMP creates opportunities for young people to find their voices through art and mentorship. By standing with AMP, Wicker Wood Works invests not only in furniture that lasts a lifetime, but also in programs that help Portland’s youth build brighter futures.
